About

The Website:

  • Do you love the idea of travelling to Europe but hate the idea of a guided bus tour which visits 12 cities in 14 days?
  • Do you want to be more of a traveller than a tourist and roll up your sleeves and really experience the culture?
  • Do you prefer villages and the countryside to big cities?
  • Are you older and want to head off to Europe for the first time but are not sure where to go or what to expect?

Well, here is where you can get some ideas and tips on how to go about making those wishes come true!

The Author:

Unlike many of us who “came of age” in the late 1960s, when I finished university, I didn’t head for Europe to hitchhike around with a backpack or fly to Amsterdam to buy a van and sleep in roadside lay-bys or farmers’ fields.  In fact, it wasn’t until a decade later (1979) when I was in my early thirties, that I got up enough courage to head overseas.  That trip changed my life and started what has become, for me, a serious love affair with Europe.

I have now made well over 70 trips to Europe and I still have lots of it to explore.  I have travelled throughout most of the British Isles and the Continent (with the exception of Spain, Portugal and the Scandinavian countries) and have seen it primarily by car.  I don’t take bus tours (other than city tours) as I hate the idea being herded around on someone else’s agenda.  During my travels, I have learned lots – about destinations, about ways of making travel easier, about cultures, and about lovely, undiscovered locations.  There have been some funny moments and some “blips” (big and small) but they’ve all added to the fabulous experience that is Europe!  Bottom line:  I’ve become one savvy broad abroad!

The Purpose:

To share my knowledge and experience of Europe so that the European “travel bug” bites you like it did me!
