France

I will unabashedly admit to anyone who will listen that France is my favourite country in Europe.  I feel by saying that I am like a bad parent who loves one of her children more than the others but the fact of the matter remains:  I LOVE IT BEST!  Why?  Well, I love its geographic diversity, its cultural, gastronomic and architectural differences, its turbulent history, and its people.  Crap!  I say, to those who say the French are arrogant and rude.  While sure, from time to time, you do come across someone who doesn’t treat you that well but it is no more or less than here at home or in other countries.  Aside from the occasional crabby waiter or over-worked hotel clerk, I have had very few negative experiences.  Furthermore, the positives ones far outweigh those little annoyances.  Sure, I do speak some French which helps but I am by no means bi-lingual.  Maybe I just expect to enjoy it so that is why it turns out that way.  Friendliness and a smile go a long way!

The posts included in this section detail some of my favourite places – in some cases,  these are villages or towns,  in some, they are regions, and sometimes they are special destinations.  In addition, I’ve needed to devote an entire sub-category to Paris, one of the most beautiful and magicial cities in Europe, in my opinion.

  1. Great start and I look forward to watching the blog grow and develop. And even though I live in Alsace, it makes me appreciate again what a lovely part of the world I live in!

  2. Great to see this blog launched! It was so interesting to hear about the Alsace region and your photos are terrific. The detailed info on the towns to see and the highlights in each will be really valuable for anyone visiting this region. You made me want to go right now!
